Cormorants are not loved by most (except their mothers) but recently this male in full breeding plumage turned up at the Cleethorpes Country Park.

Bio

Got my first camera in 1952 (and yes, it really was a box brownie) and I got my A.R.P.S. in 2006. My first target was a jam-jar full of tadpoles!

Still photographing wildlife/nature/rural subjects (albeit a little slower nowadays).

In the 1960’s I was a Nikon user but a few years later went over to Canon. They are both more than excellent cameras.

I recently tried the much more compact/lightweight Olympus OM-D E-M1 Mark 2 micro four thirds and was astonished at the techs, I doubt I will ever go back to carrying all that heavy SLR gear again! (I won’t).

I published my wildlife photography book “YOUR WILDLIFE JOURNEY” in 2022 available from Comley Cameras or direct from me buy while stocks last!!!!

What is it about? One day while in the field I had the idea to jot down all the tips and tricks needed to overcome the myriad of problems we all face when tackling wildlife. After a couple of years or more my notebook had enough information to make a book, a book I wish I owned when I started this fantastic pursuit.

Sometimes success is because of what you don’t do rather than what you do do.

When that first bird lands in front of your hide it’s difficult not to swing round onto it and grab an image before it’s ‘too late’, we all make the same mistakes in our early days, this book will show you how to get great images with that first wader, bullfinch or whatever comes your way. 50+ years of tips and tricks.

More recently I bought the OM-1 from Comley Cameras. I wanted to see just how good the bird tracking was.  Wow, what technology, I really think a UFO must have landed somewhere on earth and given someone a camera upgrade because the ability to identify a bird and then focus on its eye is simply out of this world!
