Thursday Evening

Didn’t we have a fantastic presentation from Brian and Andy McCarthy this past Thursday.

I thought the information about the pano head was intriguing.  Although the demonstration got a bit technical, it was done in a way that was so logical, it all made sense.

Luminosity masks on the other hand!  I know, you’re going to say “they make such a difference to the finished image”   and I can appreciate that, but it is a step too far for me (but that doesn’t mean I won’t experiment!)

And then, we had sensor cleaning ~ I think, possibly due to all the hype when digital first came in (~ or did it come out? ~) doing anything to it other than changing lenses and settings makes me a bit nervous.

What are your thought folks ~ I thought it was a great night  and anything the McCarthy Boys want to talk about on a Thursday evening is fine with me!

Jo Humberstone

I've always had an interest in photography, starting too many years ago than I care to remember. I have a variety of cameras in working order ~ pinhole, medium format, 35mm and digital. With working full time, there never seems to be enough free time to properly indulge in using them. 10 years or so ago, I took my first (and only!) "A" level ~ in photography. I was the only one on the course to only do darkroom work throughout. My own preferences lie with film and alternative processes ~ Digital is fine for most things, but for me it hasn't got as much "soul"! I enjoy sloshing around with various chemicals and I enjoy the unpredictability of some of the results. Having said that, I am happy to rise to the challenge of digital work and manipulating images for competitions and suchlike when time permits.
