John Dadley will be demonstrating various lighting styles, so fetch your cameras and equipment.

John will be bringing a model with him to demonstrate the various effects which can be obtained with simple alterations to lighting height, direction, intensity etc.

An evening not to be missed!

Along with a suitable amount of enthusiasm, please bring your camera and a suitable portrait lens (something between 50mm to 135 or a 70 to 200 if you prefer.

If you have a Camera Flash, speedlight, flash gun etc, bring that too. (These are not for use as people may think)!

My main aim for the evening is that after a short introduction from me that the members are given as much opportunity as possible to get some good quality images of our model. There will be lots of audience participation.                                                                                                                                                                                                                                                            I don’t want to insult anyone’s intelligence, but they should know in advance how to set their camera to manual mode and set white balance.

I've always had an interest in photography, starting too many years ago than I care to remember. I have a variety of cameras in working order ~ pinhole, medium format, 35mm and digital. With working full time, there never seems to be enough free time to properly indulge in using them. 10 years or so ago, I took my first (and only!) "A" level ~ in photography. I was the only one on the course to only do darkroom work throughout. My own preferences lie with film and alternative processes ~ Digital is fine for most things, but for me it hasn't got as much "soul"! I enjoy sloshing around with various chemicals and I enjoy the unpredictability of some of the results. Having said that, I am happy to rise to the challenge of digital work and manipulating images for competitions and suchlike when time permits.
